The 2002 Winter Olympics

The legacy of the 2002 Salt Lake City, Utah Winter Olympic Games continues to live on at the George S. Eccles Ice Center. The Eccles Ice Center earnestly strives to build on this extraordinary legacy each year by fulfilling its mission which is to maintain an exceptional ice facility by providing wholesome family skating, educational activities and programs, and staffing to meet the needs of the public.

From the moment the first performers stepped onto the ice, the standing-room-only crowd at the Eccles Ice Centers Fresh Ice program cheered as if they were rooting for the home team. The program was the arenas first ice show, and Cache Valley residents fought for parking and last-minute tickets to the sold-out event that featured former Olympians, professional pair skaters and beginning skating students from around the valley. Once inside, it was hard to say who was more enthusiastic, the performers or the audience.
